The back of my house is south facing, will
it be too hot to have a conservatory? |
 |
 |

Not necessarily, there are a number of alternative roofing and glazing
systems that can be used to reduce the heat effectively. It is also desirable
to build in as much ventilation as practicable. |

Will I need planning permission? |
| |
 |

There are comprehensive guidelines concerning planning permission, but
simplistically, planning permission is needed:- |
| |
|
| (a) |
If you live in a terraced or semi-detached property
and your conservatory projects more that three metres from your house. |
| (b) |
If you live in a detached house and your conservatory
projects more than four metres from your house. |
| (c) |
If your property lies within a conservation
area |
Our designers and surveyors are fully aware of the details of the guidelines.
Should planning permission be required we will happily apply on your behalf. |

How will I heat my conservatory in the winter? |
| |
 |

An electric Dimplex heater, thermostatically controlled with a timer should
be sufficient. These are available in various Kw sizes, your electrical
installer may advise you on the appropriate size for your conservatory. |
| |
|
|
| |
 |
Can I have a conservatory over a manhole
cover? |
| |
 |

This is not an insurmountable problem, again our designer and surveyor
can advise once they can inspect the exact location of the manhole in
relation to the conservatory. |
| |
|
|
| |
 |
How do I prevent condensation building up
in my conservatory? |
| |
 |

Provided the conservatory is not damp and is well ventilated condensation
should not be a problem. |
